The profile of Balboa Park’s central square, the Plaza de Panama, rose even higher Wednesday with the addition of $ 109,000 worth of colorful tables, chairs and planters, courtesy of Southwest Airlines and the San Diego Foundation.

Robert’s Cloquet furniture store to close
News from Duluth News Tribune:

After 28 years, Robert’s Home Furnishings in downtown Cloquet is closing.

But owner Bob Rothenberger says the Duluth store —  where he started in the furniture business 40 years ago —  will remain open.

“ We have no intentions of closing,” said Rothenberger, who also said he’s not retiring. “We’re not only continuing but expanding our line. We will expand and add a new line of bedding.”

Meanwhile, the Cloquet store at 128 Avenue C has been busy. It began a liquidation sale this month with everything 20 percent off, even already discounted items. Because Rothenberger has no plans to move the remaining inventory to the Duluth store at 2102 W. Superior St., it’s a true liquidation sale that will continue for more than a month.

Both stores carry a full line of home furnishings, including sofas, recliners, bedroom, dining room and living room furniture. The Cloquet store is two stories, and the Duluth store has four stories.

Rothenberger said he has been in business a long time because he keeps prices down with a low overhead.
